🤖 Talking with chatbots will be fun... for real!
It's still highly frustrating to talk to voice recognition systems or chatbots, but in 2020, conversational AI is expected to become more useful.

⌚Your personal AI
Big chance you have a wearable such as FitBit, which you use to monitor your actions and make certain decisions accordingly: "What kind of workout should I do?" In the near future, we’ll see more devices supporting our productivity.

💊 Going to the AI doctor
Various medical applications such as ADA have recently been popping up. In 2020, we’ll see patients ask their medical questions increasingly through such apps, rather than googling them, or even going to the GP.

🎥 AI goes Hollywood
The entertainment business is a money-making machine, but one with a high (and expensive) failure rate. In the future, AI might be able to identify the next superstars or create award-winning movie scenarios.

🆘 AI for the social good
With the use of AI, governments and humanitarian organizations they will be able to better predict and respond to natural disasters, limited the spread of diseases and protect endangered species.

🤝 It won’t be fun without ethics
AI has been growing with the speed of lightyears, but AI ethics hasn’t. That’s an underestimated danger, argue ethical AI researchers and DN19 speakers Gunay Kazimzade and Vince Madai. AI regulatory bodies must guarantee ethical standards and there should be broad AI education, as awareness is key. Read our interview with Kazimzade and Madai in our magazine.

Nikolic is on a quest to close the mind-body explanatory gap and using this knowledge to improve ML and AI. His work on brain research led him to develop the theory of hierarchical adaptations and the concept of AI-Kindergarten, his method for the creation of biological like artificial intelligence.
Alisa Kolesnikova AI researcher and educator
at Humboldt-Universität Berlin
Last year, she blew DN18 away with her talk about how neural networks are changing the global political landscape. She is also a creator of the VCRIX volatility index. You can find her in the wild at the Humboldt-Universität, but on a special occasion at DN19!
Gunay Kazimzade, Doctoral Researcher on AI, Technical University of Berlin
Gunay Kazimzade is a Doctoral Researcher on AI at the Weizenbaum Institute and TEDx speaker. Currently working with the Research Group "Criticality of Artificial Intelligence-based systems", her main research directions are Gender and racial bias in AI, inclusiveness in AI and AI-enhanced education.
Shlomi Hod, Data Scientist & Educator
at ethically.ai
Hod works on the use of AI technology for the social good, primarily as the developer of Ethically.ai, an open-source toolkit for auditing and mitigating bias and fairness of machine learning systems. He also teaches various computing classes on Python programming and machine learning.
